John E. Reilly is President of The Reilly Intellectual Property Law Firm, P.C., an intellectual property law firm specializing in patents, trademarks and copyrights in the Denver area.

A graduate of the University of Illinois, B.S. Mechanical Engineering, and the University of Denver, L.L.B., he is a member of the local, State and American Bar Associations, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and Licensing Executive Society.  A former Examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Reilly has been in private practice specializing in patent, trademark and copyright law since 1960.

Admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1995; U.S. Court of Appeals, 10th Circuit in 1972; and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in 1982.

Mr. Reilly has conducted numerous patentability investigations as well as clearance and patent validity searches.  He has prepared, filed and prosecuted over 2,000 patent applications in the United States Patent and Trademark Office and foreign countries.

Mr. Reilly’s background as a Mechanical Engineer, as well as a former Examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, enables him to write patents that stand up in court.  

The firm is extensively involved in the preparation of intellectual property agreements, principally in connection with domestic and foreign patent, trademark and copyright matters.  The firm also counsels its clients in connection with intellectual property disputes and litigation avoidance issues, including patent clearance and validity searches.
